Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is:
- To assist adults in the community to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and economic self-sufficiency.
- To provide high quality, research-based instruction in reading, writing, and mathematical skills to raise their educational functional levels and/or to obtain their high school equivalency.
- To assist staff in recruitment, goal setting, instruction, and to provide and imbed work readiness activities into instruction.
- To support, document, and identify professional development for classroom aides and tutors.
- To provide case management and coordinate vocational services and community support services, to individuals with disadvantaged conditions, and/or barriers to employment, which will assist them in obtaining and succeeding in community employment or further education. Services are provided in the correctional institutions and in the community.
Qualifications:
This position is a professional staff position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff. Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required. The person must follow company policies, and safety procedures as well as assuring that students under his/her supervision follow the same.
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Demonstrated experience working with adult learners. One year of experience in providing case management or vocational services to individuals with barriers to employment is preferred.
Salary range - $36,000 - $38,500
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in program improvement efforts.
- Provides intake, data collection, and data input for outcome tracking.
- Provides initial and on-going assessment of student’s abilities and skills.
- Supports student success in career pathways, helping students acquire the knowledge and basic skills, including critical thinking and problem solving, necessary to earn a secondary school credential and to transition to and succeed in employment and/or postsecondary education or training.
- Provides education and instruction in a variety of basic methods to appeal to varying learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporates the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) into curricula.
- Creates lesson plans with CCRS-aligned objectives. Lesson plans must clearly articulate how lessons will be sequenced, use instructional materials, and present and conduct learning activities. Strategies should make career awareness and workforce skills a central context for learning.
- Provides instruction to classes that will include large-group, small-group, and one-on-one instruction.
