The PA CareerLink® Service Assistant’s purpose is to provide service and receptionist duties to support the PA CareerLink® System. The PA CareerLink® Assistant screens and routes customers and phone calls, answers questions and inquiries as appropriate, creates and maintains spreadsheets and databases, and assists customers with needs. The PA CareerLink® Service Assistant organizes and participates in projects to enhance the level of service.
Education: Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum of two years of customer service experience.
Computer proficiency: Basic computer literacy including Word, Access, Excel, and Email
Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check and Department of Human Services- FBI Fingerprints.
Other: A PA CareerLink® Service Assistant must have a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record and dependable transportation, which can be used in the course of his/her job. A PA CareerLink® Service Assistant must also have an operating telephone, so that he/she may be contacted quickly by Goodwill when necessary.
Skills, Abilities, and Duties:
- Must have advanced computer skills and knowledge in the use of the internet, word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.
- Must be able to utilize telephone systems and route calls appropriately.
- Must have a clear speaking voice and the ability to convey needed information with effective verbal and written communication skills, using English.
- Must have organizational skills and the ability to work independently, and on a variety of tasks, with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to interact appropriately and effectively with the public, agency staff, other employees, and the participants in Goodwill’s training programs, promoting a positive image of Goodwill at all times
- Ability to perform sedentary work for 8 or more hours each day.
- Ability to do occasional bending, stooping, stretching, pushing and pulling.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, (material handling equipment will be used to minimize effort expended when practical).
- Vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits.
- Must be extremely dependable in attendance and punctuality.
- Must be able to assist in collecting data and creating reports needed for the agency.
- Answers incoming telephone calls, and disseminates information to the caller or routes the caller to the appropriate staff/department.
- Greets customers walking into the PA CareerLink® facility, providing customer service.
- Provides accurate information of all functions of PA CareerLink® to customers.
- Checks, corrects, and records information taken from daily sign-in sheets and other sources as directed.
- Enters data into various databases/spreadsheets accurately.
- Files papers in the appropriate places and in the appropriate order.
- Responsible for mailing and maintaining, in a timely manner, Customer Satisfaction Surveys or other scheduled correspondence.
- Performs other clerical and miscellaneous functions, as requested, for the general benefit of the agency.
- Back up core staff member in the Career Resource Room when necessary.
- Maintains PA CareerLink® daily staff schedule.
