A Health Program Coordinator will play an integral role in preparing the future healthcare workforce. This position’s primary function is to provide technical, professional, and programmatic guidance, consultation, and support in accordance with the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Essential Functions

The essential functions are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is to be performed by the team member in this position.   • Develops, coordinates, and oversees health care programs offering certifications to include CNA, Phlebotomy, medical assistant, etc.
  • Establish curriculum, coordinates clinical site, compiles paperwork needed, ensures classroom lab is up to standards, and submits an application to obtain state approval.
  • Follows up consistently with Georgia Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP) to ensure the program maintains current certification.
  • Provides proper instruction to training participants wanting to become eligible for certification.
  • Complies with State of Georgia requirements of a minimum of eighty-five (85) hours of training which must include twenty-four (24) hours of clinical rotation in a facility supervised by an approved Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; develop lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the student's educational experience in the classroom.
  • Assists participants with the completion of intake packets and orientation to the program.
  • Ensures the state required paperwork for on-site and desktop review is included on each participant's file.
  • Documents significant information and case notes of participants' observations and behaviors during training promptly.
  • Maintains the class and lab supply inventory and informs the team or manager of orders to be placed.
  • Assists with review of the material, test scheduling, and preparing participants for interviews, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, time management, project management and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively write and communicate in a concise manner to a diverse audience.  

Education & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with two (2) years of nursing experience and one (1) year of nursing experience as an RN must be in a long-term care facility.
  • Experience in teaching adults and/or supervising nurse aides.
  • Level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate degree.
