Job Summary: 

Globalstar is seeking a Data Scientist to join a cross-functional team that provides data analytics support across all technical areas of the company.  The candidate should have a strong background in SQL and Python as well as mathematical/statistical analysis and data visualization.  The role requires the Data Scientist to build a deep understanding of the underlying datasets while working with system owners to validate their analyses.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Build metrics collection pipelines from distributed infrastructure systems
  • Integrate and clean large datasets from disparate sources
  • Work with system owners to establish Service Level Objectives for their systems
  • Work with Operations and Reliability Engineers to develop dashboards and alerts
  • Work with Systems Engineers to analyze large datasets of real-world system performance data to inform design decisions and optimize network performance
  • Measure the accuracy of simulation models compared to operational data at scale

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with AWS data pipeline tools (S3, Kinesis, Kinesis Analytics, etc)
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, R, Matlab, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, or Grafana
  • General understanding of electrical engineering principles desired but not required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree program of Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Physics or Computer Engineering
  • At least 3 years of data analytics experience
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Matlab
  • Strong background in SQL databases (e.g. optimizing complex queries for large datasets)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
