Sunbrella is recruiting for a Marketing Director over our Furnishings Business Unit. is a key leader on the Furnishings (Outdoor + Indoor) Business Unit Leadership Team and for the Sunbrella brand. This leader will guide the marketers in the Furnishings BU and collaborate with the business teams to define and deliver brand and market-appropriate go-to-market strategies and plans, develop and oversee furnishings marketing plans and initiatives, and support work to grow the Sunbrella brand holistically. Additionally, the director leads the furnishings marketing team in the commercialization of sales and marketing programs across furnishings categories, partners with relevant agencies to build and implement marketing plans, identifies category-specific business-building opportunities; and works cross functionally to deliver sales and profit results for Sunbrella’s largest category (furnishings) through delivery of the overarching brand/category/channel

**This is a hybrid role, with some flexibility for candidates outside of the Triad NC area**

Responsibilities:

  • Drives profitable growth of the Furnishings BU while building the Sunbrella brand by driving and informing priorities set by the CMO, VP Sunbrella Brand and VP/GM of Furnishings Business Unit; establishes clear priorities to drive resource allocation
  • Oversees team and collaborates cross-functionally to develop marketing plan for furnishings category overall and priority channels/audiences
  • Develops and manages furnishings marketing budget to achieve plan
  • Manages a team and partners with internal/external resources to oversee execution of relevant Furnishings and Brand marketing initiatives including development of integrated campaigns and promotional programs, such as in-store merchandising signage or displays, co-branded campaigns and activations, retailer feature ads, end consumer and designer activations, and category-specific marketing support materials.
  • Develops and oversees team to create concise and inspiring briefs that result in work that is strategically sound, creatively compelling and delivers the desired business results.
  • Collaborates to identify insights gaps / opportunities and leverages research, data and insights to inform brand marketing and business unit initiatives including but not limited to innovation, go-to-market strategies, and communications: identifies consumer/trade research needs on an ongoing basis; and partners with research to interpret findings and make informed recommendations for action.
  • Recommends and tracks success metrics.
  • Stays close and builds relevant relationships in the furnishings industry, including customers, media partners, and other collaborators; also monitors competitors to inform strategic recommendations and opportunities
  • Collaborates with Sales and Design to prepare for priority customer meetings aligned with category calendars. Works with Sales to drive pre-sell activity with customer, manage/drive expectations, and establish mutual goals for the meeting. Develops co-marketing plans for priority customers and oversees implementation of marketing plans
  • Guides or drives new product development with oversight of positioning and launch plans and execution

Education and Experience:

  • BA in business, marketing, economics, psychology, math or statistics
  • MBA strongly preferred

Experience

  • At least 8 years of progressive brand and/or marketing management experience with consumer-facing brands including management of brand campaigns from conception through execution and optimization
  • Experience in furnishings-focused and / or aesthetics-driven business strongly preferred
  • Experience working with research and insights to inform strategic recommendations
  • Experience developing campaigns that serve both B2C and B2B marketing goals
  • Experience working on brand messaging and positioning
  • Experience with introducing new products through a structured product development process
  • Demonstrated experience using robust mix of marketing touchpoints to drive growth
  • Experience in leading/working with cross-functional teams and managing people as direct reports
  • Experience developing a multi-year plan or approach and executing at least two years of the plan
  • Track record of managing resources and timelines for many projects at once
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate and influence across multiple levels of an organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent eye for design and ability to build relationships and credibility with design-savvy customers and partners
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Tenacious, results driven leader who builds relationships and sees initiatives through execution
  • Ability to think creatively, generate options, build consensus, and execute
  • Strong financial understanding of P&L, GM, and relation to decision making
  • Proficient skill-set in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Aptitude for both strategic thinking and detail-oriented operational management
  • Ability to work independently to identify and prioritize growth opportunities, and develop plans to capture growth.
