The Ideal Candidate

The Footwear Product Developer Associate works collaboratively with the development team, designers, and product line managers to deliver innovative, market relevant, and on-brand seasonal products. Responsibilities include all aspects of product creation, through each milestone, as well as the coordination of development for J&M Men’s and Boy’s footwear.

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Help to manage sampling and prototyping of J&M development of Premium Men’s Inline as well as special make-up (SMU), J&M Factory Store, and Boys business segments.
  • Work collaboratively with the Development team, as well as Designers and Product Line Managers to create tech packs, evaluate prototypes, review blueprints, and assist with the costing process.
  • Maintain clear documentation, and communication of samples, from concept through final product (i.e. building Tech Packs, Bill-of-Materials, Product Specifications.
  • Coordinate last development at each milestone, with design/development and last engineer, and communicate changes with our overseas partners.
  • Works as a member of the development team to maintain product integrity with respect to last, upper, and model development.
  • Participate and assist in footwear pre-costing, seasonal cost analysis, and value engineered products to maintain margins.
  • Assist in sourcing and testing compounds on current and future projects.
  • Perform departmental administrative tasks and development related tasks as needed.

Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in footwear engineering and or related field of study.
  • 1-3 years of footwear product development experience.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and ability to use advanced footwear/business related software programs as needed (i.e. PLM/PDM systems).
  • Effective at building relationships and communicate with PLM’s, Design, Commercialization and global factory partners.
  • Working knowledge of footwear materials, lasts, leathers, outsoles and constructions.
  • Highly organized and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Effective time management, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Domestic and International Travel Required
