GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Lead Technician. This position will be based out of and report to Easton, PA. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking, problem-solving techniques, computer-aided drafting (CAD) experience, and excellent communication skills. This position reports out of our Distribution group. The successful candidate will be eligible for a GAI sign-on bonus if applying without the use of an external recruiting agency.
Job Duties:
- Under directive supervision, designs and lays out all phases of single-phase and three-phase primary projects, both in the office and in the field.
- Under directive supervision, designs and lays out all phases of projects where overhead three phase primary already exists. Examples are single-phase transformers, secondaries, services, foreign attachments and pole renewals.
- Does required surveying, prepares field notes and drawings including directing another person who may be assisting. Does all phases of outage evaluation both in the office and in the field. May be required to secure rights-of-way. Performs other related or lesser skilled duties for which he/she is qualified or has received proper instruction or direction.
- Must develop a working knowledge of Company Construction Manuals, Materials Manuals, Engineering Manuals, FERC accounting, National Electric Safety Code, the National Electric Code, and local electric codes. Must be familiar with Company’s Safety Rules
- Ability to learn, retain and apply on the job training and use design software packages efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively in design teams.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be flexible to handle shifting deadlines and scope changes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
Required
- Two-year Associate degree in an applicable technical discipline or CAD certificate preferred but not necessary.
- Basic AutoCAD knowledge.
Experience
Required
- 6+ years: Related experience
- 2+ years: Experience in Construction and/or CAD.
- General knowledge of distribution design
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software packages efficiently.
- Ability to retain and apply on the job training.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with MS Office software.
- Must be detail-oriented and maintain professionalism. We provide a “Client First” approach to all interactions.
- Strong organizational skills a must.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or related drafting software.
