Friendship Village of Schaumburg is currently hiring for a full time Respiratory Therapist. To provide direct patient care and support activities which build and maintain a CCRC.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide patient treatments which meet patient needs and uses current treatment knowledge in accordance with CCRC clinical procedures. This includes but is not limited to:
- Performing accurate, comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Developing effective plan of treatment and obtaining appropriate approvals from referring physician.
- Communicating with supervisor and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems and treatment plans.
- Instructing patient's families and/or nursing staff in specified follow through programs.
- Interviewing patients and families regarding previous level of functioning, lifestyle and current and future expectations for recovery.
- Demonstrating knowledge of appropriate resources for problem-solving and clinical best practice.
- Evaluating patients within the required timeframe as per CCRC and facility policies.
- Writes accurate, complete, and clear documentation in accordance with CCRC, regulatory, licensing, payor, and accrediting requirements.
- Recording Screens/Resident Needs Reviews, evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with CCRC and facility Policies and Procedures.
- Consistently demonstrates CCRC and facility interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
- Integrating findings of other members of the interdisciplinary team in treatment assessment and recommendations.
- Contributes to professional development of self and others.
- Utilizing continuing education to achieve targeted quality improvements.
- Aids in building and maintaining CCRC and facility's reputation as an unparalleled provider of rehab to by contribution as a professional member of the staff.
- Consistently demonstrating CCRC and facility's core values in interaction with co-workers, patients and families, with all other persons involved with the patient's care, and the general public.
- Demonstrates safe working practices.
- Identifying and correcting safety hazards or notifying the facility so that safety hazards will be immediately remedied.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of Respiratory Services, evaluation and treatment techniques.
- Understanding the principles of Respiratory Care modalities and employed in Respiratory Care.
- Knowledge of use of tracheostomy care, respiratory devices, cardiopulmonary, breathing techniques and training.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work with all types and levels of patients.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Current IL Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- Current CPR Certification
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Respiratory Care from an accredited Respiratory Care programs.
Experience:
- Experience in geriatric rehabilitation preferred.
- Experience in adult neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, and/or general rehabilitation is preferred.
