Job Summary

Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

Example of Essential Functions:

  • This position is responsible for providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages through integrated drug distribution, clinical services, and provision of drug information.   
  • S/he collaborates with medical and nursing staff to ensure high quality, safe medication management.  
  • S/he ensures that all medication standards as documented in standard operating procedures and/or state/federal regulations are maintained.  
  • The Pharmacist also shares professional responsibility for oversight of Pharmacy Technicians’ work to ensure accuracy and timeliness of pharmaceutical preparations.  
  • The Pharmacist also shares responsibility for serving as a resource to patients.  S/he participates in demonstrates ownership of continual process/quality improvement and demonstrates professional responsibility for ongoing personal development. 
  • This position performs decentralized unit – based care to patients and other medical professional staff

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Outstanding oral and written communication skills.  Must be able to work with others in a professional, coaching manner.  Proficient in assessing the use and application of new technology, including complex equipment and medication delivery systems.  Problem solving and analytical thinking required.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience is required.
  • Maryland Pharmacist license or eligible to reciprocate required.
  • PGY-1 residency, clinical certification or equivalent clinical experience required.
  • Previous hospital or clinical experience required.

Physical Demands:

Light Work - Lifting up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes and/or carrying up to 10 pounds, or requiring walking or standing to a significant degree (about six [6] hours a day).

Ergonomic Risk Factors:

Repetition:  Repeating the same motion over and over again places stress on the muscles and tendons.  The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated, the speed of the movement, the required force and muscles involved.
