The Treasury Manager is responsible for management, development, control and oversight of a team of Treasury professionals. This position works closely with members of the Accounting team and performs both a leadership and management function.  The Treasury Manager is expected to carry out their duties and responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with EquiTrust’s Company Values of Integrity, Leadership, Accountability, Teamwork and Passion.

The Treasury Manager is responsible for leading and executing a variety of treasury and financial functions including cash and treasury operations, payment processing, maintaining relationships with banks, and ensuring compliance with Treasury policies, procedures and goals. Additionally, the Treasury Manager is involved in assessing, recommending and implementing products, services, technologies and systems that are available and appropriate for EquiTrust operations. The Treasury Manager partners with business leaders to ensure their specific, departmental Treasury-related goals and objectives are met. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees, including but not limited to the following activities: makes recommendations for hiring, termination, promotions and transfers, assessing and completing performance appraisals, responsibility allocations and task completion, problem identification and resolution and other day-to-day people management and leadership responsibilities.
  • Coaches, motivates and develops team to ensure Treasury is continuously providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Manages functions related to cash accounting in the general ledger to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
  • Ensures that systems, policies, and procedures adhere to company policies while functioning with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitors daily cash position and overall liquidity position, for all bank accounts.
  • Monitors and updates cash flow projections to ensure we have adequate liquidity at all times, while also maximizing our investment earnings potential.
  • Coordinates with Policy Administration on all activities regarding timely approval, creation and mailing of check payments (and other payment methods) for policyholder benefits and agent commissions.
  • Monitors bank account structure and recommends usage, including opening and closing of such accounts.
  • Releases fund transfers to ensure ACH and wire transfers occur within established timelines.
  • Partners with Assistant Vice President, Treasury in the development of the department’s budget and seeks opportunities for cost savings initiatives.
  • Provides oversight for security administration of access to bank portals, including user permissions and access.
  • Establishes standardized policies and procedures to generate efficiencies and adequate controls, including compliance with all regulatory, insurance and banking standards, including OFAC, Dodd Frank, Basel III, AML.
  • Supports the Treasury team and/or other departments on an as needed basis.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.

  • Demonstrated success in process improvements.

  • Excellent oral, written, listening and presentation skills and ability to clearly articulate complex information.
  • Ability to influence and/or mentor team members within the Treasury function.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a team in order to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to work more efficiently and more productively and as an auditing tool.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology systems and software.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of applications including ERP and TMS systems and other accounting/financial applications.

Training or Work Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of corporate treasury and treasury operations experience required.
  • ERP system experience required.
  • 2 years of experience in life and/or annuity preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Accounting or Finance degree required.

Working Conditions:

  • Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
