Summary:
Our software engineering teams employ an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities into mature Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions. The Technical Writer will be responsible for leading technical documentation for multiple software product teams. The Technical Writer will strengthen the teams’ technical deliverables as directed by the customer. The Technical Writer must use Government Furnished DevSecOps tool suites (Atlassian products, such as JIRA, BitBucket, and Confluence.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in a highly collaborative team environment following Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve team-level Agile performance; focus teams on customer value, quality, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide technical writing support to multiple software product teams.
- With the assistance of engineering team members, create, maintain, review, revise, and update technical documentation.
- Technical documentation includes but is not limited to Cybersecurity Test Reports, Developer’s Guides, Installation Guides, Software Test Reports, System Administration Guides, Software User Manuals, and Software Version Descriptions as well as additional training procedures and testing procedures.
- Other responsibilities include providing feedback on technical documentation, managing documentation update scheduling, and providing critical subject matter expertise support during documentation reviews, sprint planning sessions, and program office working groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, computer science, or STEM discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, and work experience.
- Four to Eight (4-8+) years or more, of experience in DoD-related technical writing.
- The selected individual must be able to obtain and maintain a GENSER Secret clearance and ability to attain the necessary certifications to be a privileged user in the lab and cloud environments.
- Demonstrable experience in technical writing for DoD clients, including adherence to style guides, experience with redlines, overall format management, configuration management, and document version control.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Extensive experience in the development, writing, formatting, editing, and proofreading of DoD technical documentation.
- Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Self-managed, strong self-organization skills, and eager to contribute.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Excellent editing, technical writing, and creative writing skills.

Additional preferred qualifications:
- Advanced Atlassian product skills and experience with products such as Scroll Word Exporter, Scroll Macros, and Jira Service Management.
- Experience with and or knowledge of Human Factors Engineering Principles.
- Hands-on Software and DevSecOps experience are encouraged.
- An existing Secret Security Clearance.
Pay Range:
Target salary range: $85,000 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors such as business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
