SUMMARY

The Divisional Controller will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for a division of the company. This position will plan, manage, direct and implement the financial activities for the organization. This position also will serve as primary financial liaison with staff for day-to-day accounting operations. This is a full time exempt position, not subject to overtime and reports to the CFO. This is an on-premises position based out of Stoughton, MA with regular travel to another EMCOR location within 50 miles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Coordinate general accounting activities of company’s financial system.
  • Prepare reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
  • Participate in monthly closing of company, generation of profit and loss statements, balance sheets and budget variance reports.
  • Responsible for proper accruals, reserves and review of trial balances to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Keep CFO and operations leadership informed of performance issues, internal controls concerns and provides consultation on accounting matters.
  • Assure that effective communications and teamwork are maintained within areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare and distribute timely and accurate, monthly financial reports for senior management and field operations management to optimize business decisions.
  • Coordinate with Operations Managers to analyze projects and maintenance agreement financials for discrepancies and deviation from expected results.
  • Integral participation in monthly WIP reviews with Project Managers to ensure proper percentage of completion recognition of projects, as well as facilitate oversight of project performance vs estimates, cashflows, and profitability.
  • Perform variance analysis, provide commentary on deviations from plan and forecast and recommend corrective action / opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform monthly work-in-process reviews.
  • Assist CFO with preparations of annual budgets and forecasts in accordance with corporate financial requirements.
  • Conduct audits of accounts to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, SOP’s, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Safeguard company assets and ensure financial control.
  • Coordinate activities of external and internal auditors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or University, CPA preferred but not required.
  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in increasingly responsible positions in Accounting or Finance.
  • Cross-functional experience including payroll, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, job cost accounting (percent of completion) and financial reporting is required.
  • Must be highly motivated, detail oriented, proactive, and assertive, follow through with tasks until completed and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required with a commitment to ethical behavior and adherence to all company polices and current regulations.
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are also required. COINS and Sage ERP software experience a plus.

ENVIRONMENT

This position is office based and will require time working in front of a computer monitor. 

We will not provide relocation for this position.
