Our client, a leading healthcare provider in New York City, has an immediate need for experienced Sonographer to join their growing team.

Our candidate choice will be responsible for responsible to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. You will maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Ability to perform biophysical profiles, gyn scans, anatomy and first, second, and third trimester scans and nuchal translucency scans is required for this role.

REQUIRED DUTIES:

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Reviews patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions.  Prepares equipment for procedure.  Selects appropriate equipment settings.  Explains procedure to patient and records any medical history that might be relevant to the condition being viewed.  Directs the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal areas.  Selects images to show the physician for diagnostic purposes.  Takes measurements, calculates values, and analyzes the results in preliminary reports for the physicians.
  • Completes preliminary examination reports for review with attending physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographers care.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
  • Complies with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies/procedures.
  • Assess complex health and wellbeing needs, working with the team to develop, monitor and review care plans to meet those needs
  • Acts sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide ranging physical and emotional needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma.  Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in sonography from accredited school.
  • Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, is registered as RMDS in OB/GYN.
  • NY/NB certified is preferred.  Certified in Fetal Echocardiography is a plus.
  • Minimum five or more years of experience in an OB/GYN setting.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, basic physics, patient care, medical ethics.
  • Ability to adapt to various work assignments.
  • Proven ability to access, input, and retrieves information from a computer. Knowledge of Medical software program(s) required.
  • High level of listening skills. Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
  • Aptitude to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
  • Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.).
