Performs basic patient care activities and procedures for patients of varying ages under the direct training of a registered nurse.
1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Possesses effective interviewing and counseling techniques.
3. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
4. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
5. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
6. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Nurse Technician.
Work Experience
- Hospital setting preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
Education and Training
- First year of a two-year nursing program (including Medical/Surgical rotation) and currently enrolled in a nursing program, or
- Completion of the 5th semester of a four-year nursing program and currently enrolled in a nursing program, or
- Certificate of completion from a U.S. or foreign school of nursing with proof of acceptance for the NCLEX-RN exam (NCLEX must be passed within 6-months of hire).
