We are currently looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in Bloomfield Hills, MI! The Senior Network Engineer specializes in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues. This position plays a key role in research and taking the lead on new deployments. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for functional and
empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure. This involves configuring, maintaining, and securing network devices, ensuring seamless data communication and a robust network environment.

What are the responsibilities of a Senior Network Engineer?

  • Design and architect the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network components, to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Configure and maintain network devices, including routing and switching equipment, to support business operations and maximize network reliability.
  • Continuously monitor network performance, identifying and resolving complex connectivity issues, optimizing network resources, and ensuring high availability of network services.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls, to protect against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and inventories, to support troubleshooting and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Systems Engineers and IT Cyber Security Engineer, to ensure seamless integration of network services with overall IT systems.
  • Train other team members on projects and procedures as needed.
  • Participate in project and incident support during after-work hours as needed.
  • Manage Bandwidth Circuit Providers with regard to headend router integration, performance monitoring, scheduled maintenance notifications as well as troubleshooting outages.
  • Mentor the team of Network Engineers to help accomplish team objectives, goals and oversee a monthly on-call schedule for after-hours performance issues, outages, etc.
  • Work closely with leaders on the technology team and cross-functionally to implement project initiatives and ensure project milestones are met.

What are the role requirements?

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of network engineering and administration experience is required.
  • Previous experience performing complex network systems design, implementation and administration is preferred.
  • Previous experience analyzing complex system failures to minimize outages and interruptions is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with enterprise class hardware from a major OEM (Cisco, Fortinet, Dell, HP) is preferred.
  • Experience working with Cisco and Fortinet network equipment and services.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies including access points, switches, routers, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and WAN accelerators.
  • Strong knowledge of standard network and routing protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, RPC, SNMP, FTP, DHCP, DNS, RIP, BGP, OSPF, and other common protocols.
  • Experience using Yardi Voyager or related property management software is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies in all aspects of LAN, WAN, and remote access.
  • Exhibit technical expertise in networking protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and network security.
  • Strong analytic and research skills.
  • Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to balance and prioritize simultaneous projects and tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must present the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to travel to various locations via private or public air transportation and locations within driving distance via car.
  • Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
