Job Description

EDC has an opening for a full-time Mental Health Project Director I, contingent upon funding, reporting to the Associate Director on the Trauma Recovery, Mental Health Promotion, and Violence Prevention Team in the Health Promotion, Practice, and Innovation (HPPI) Portfolio. The person in this position will preferably be based in the Washington, DC metro area, but US-based telecommuters will be considered. Internationally based telecommuters are not eligible for this position. 

Projects include working with law enforcement, providing technical assistance, training, and consultation focused on post-traumatic growth, mental health, and resilience, designing suicide prevention and mental wellness resources, and writing training curricula which incorporate mental health best practices for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and presenter who can travel for events 1 – 3 times per month, an excellent writer, a subject matter expert in trauma recovery, mental health, and violence prevention, bring mental health-specific clinical expertise, be detail-oriented, organized, and able to direct projects and supervise technical and/or administrative staff. Experience working with or as law enforcement or related-experience that would apply to law enforcement preferred.

You will:

  • Direct team to ensure programmatic/technical success as well as for administrative/business/financial viability across projects focused on supporting the mental health and resilience-building of law enforcement and first responder communities, including offering senior-level content expertise
  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of mental health curricula, high-profile trainings, trainer development, and resources
  • Direct training and technical assistance in the form of consultation, developing and delivering high quality trainings and presentations, both in person and virtually for conferences, webinars, and learning collaboratives
  • Collaborate with partners to build relationships, develop resources and resource hubs, and compile best practices in mental health, resilience, and trauma recovery at the individual, agency, and community levels
  • Provide project direction and oversee significant project management, including tracking of project deliverables, creating timelines, and ensuring teams meet project development and implementation deliverables 
  • Generate additional work for EDC through business development efforts and activities, including all aspects of proposal development
  • Manage external relationships and contribute to the strategic planning of projects and team activities
  • Travel frequently, approximately 1 – 3 times per month, to deliver trainings, provide technical assistance in the form of consultation, attend and present at meetings, conferences, site visits, etc. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Clinical Master's Degree and Clinical Licensure 

Skills & Experience:

  • 6 - 9 years related mental health clinical experience
  • 2 – 4 years of project management experience, including budget responsibility and staff supervision
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to train and coach technical and/or administrative staff and to achieve project and program objectives while managing and prioritizing multiple efforts
  • Demonstrable evidence-based mental health curriculum and training development writing and training delivery skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to and communicate with internal stakeholders, groups and senior leadership, as well as communicate across diverse community members, community organizations and government and law enforcement agencies

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience:

  • Work experience with law enforcement personnel or related experience, preferred

This position offers an anticipated full-time equivalent annual base salary range of approximately $76,000 to $93,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
