Are you looking for a rewarding career? Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life? East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) seeks individuals for paid on-the-job training as Teacher Assistants/floaters in our Head Start preschool classrooms at 8 John H. Chafee Boulevard, Newport, RI.

This position requires that job candidates are willing to participate in training and college coursework to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within one year of hire. EBCAP will provide or recommend professional development training, and a CDA consultant at no cost to the employee. College course tuition reimbursement is provided, up to $2,100 per year. College coursework and some professional development training must be completed after work hours. This is a part-time (25-hour/week) position. The job candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED and

RI Department of Education Certificate of Completion of Teacher Assistant Training or

6 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education coursework.

Other candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of child development, a desire to teach and nurture young children, and a desire to learn and develop new skills as an early education teacher.

Under the direction and supervision of a Lead Teacher, the teacher assistant/float will work with a classroom team of professionals to provide a supportive classroom environment, assist in classroom activities, and ensure that children are always supervised.
