Summary
DOWL is looking for a self-motivated, highly organized Landscape Architect with the passion, creativity and competency to assist in the design and documentation of projects for urban and natural environments of varying scale and character. The desired candidate would have the ability and desire to shift between detailed landscape design work and larger-scaled master planning work. Demonstration of the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced professional environment will be a key element to the selection of the candidate. This is a full-time opportunity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Develop and refine landscape designs for a variety of private and public clients, including master plans, parks and recreation facilities, restoration and mitigation plans, trails, transportation, streetscapes, and commercial sites.
- Preparation and coordination of conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents for a variety of project types and scales.
- Preparation of construction details and technical specifications.
- Development of photo-simulation, digital renderings and other graphic representations of proposed designs at a project and/or master plan scale.
- Serve as task manager on small planning and design projects. Develop the ability to monitor completion of work against schedule and budget.
- Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in all work tasks.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- A Baccalaureate degree in landscape architecture and a minimum of two of years related work experience are required.
- A Master’s degree in landscape architecture is desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Licensure as a Professional Landscape Architect or working towards licensure in the state where position is located is a plus, but not required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Essential Skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent project needs and communicate effectively with peers and project managers regarding project schedules and deliverables.
- Strong communication skills, graphic, written, and verbal
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign). Knowledge of SketchUp, Rhino, Civil 3D and GIS helpful.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to review and interpret development codes for the purpose of creating and refining preliminary development plans and for informing clients and project teams of anticipated agency review processes.
- Capable of creating conceptual graphics and plans by hand sketching and computer-generated drawings and renderings.
- Interest in planting and irrigation design and basic knowledge of native and native/adapted Pacific NW Plants.
