Sector Summary

At the center of DLR Group’s Healthcare practice is an individual - be it a patient, care giver, instructor, or student. Our healthcare design ethos extends beyond the building to consider the emotional, mental, and social well-being of its inhabitants. Our healthcare team leverages an integrated practice model via architectural, engineering, interior design, medical programming + planning, master planning and FFE design services, to ensure a high degree of client satisfaction. We also provide specialty design services such as lab+ pharmacy design, clean room, BSL 3 and other research environments, as well as lighting, acoustical, A/V, environmental graphic design services and POE’s.


DLR Group’s 70+ dedicated healthcare design professionals have completed over 300 healthcare projects. Our resume includes work in a spectrum of acute and ambulatory care for healthcare systems, academic medical centers, VA, DoD and NAVFAC facilities. Recent healthcare design firm acquisitions in Charlotte, NC and Seattle, WA have created a healthcare design practice that generates on average $12 M a year in design revenue. The majority of this work is produced by our healthcare design professionals in Charlotte, NC, Cleveland, OH, Seattle, WA and Phoenix, AZ.

Role Summary

The Healthcare Global Sector Leader (GSL) is responsible for strategic planning, revenue growth, profit, and client satisfaction of the entire Healthcare Sector. They are the strategic, visionary, proactive, and positive leader of their dedicated team. They mentor the next generation of employee-owners, counsel clients, and share their design voice on projects.


Role Responsibilities

  • Lead the healthcare professionals in a “Group First” approach to collaboration and leadership.
  • Active leadership of the Healthcare forum and knowledge share activities.
  • Coordinate with Region Leaders (RLs):
    • Provide input to respective Region Leaders on compensation adjustments for Region Sector Leaders.
    • To enable collaborative pursuit, award and execution of healthcare work.
  • Work with Healthcare Regional Sector Leaders (RSLs) and Business Development Leaders (BDLs)
  • The development of an annual healthcare sector business plan.
  • Development of action plans to rectify sector performance when regional sector needs to grow.
  • Participation in monthly Global Sector Leader calls to provide update to CEO and GSL peers.
  • Participation in weekly leadership team calls
  • Work with Brand Communications team to:
    • Develop insights and other media to inform internal team and external audience internally and Dlrgroup.com, social media and other publication formats externally.
    • Pursuit of Industry and Design excellence recognition and awards
  • Support Investing in our staff:
    • Identify, review, interview and select potential candidates for sector specific personnel.
    • Lead/Participate in career plan reviews for RSLs and business development staff and assist with the establishment of metrics to achieve regional business plan goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Proven leadership experience within the healthcare design profession.
  • Demonstrated experience with successfully winning large healthcare projects.
  • Responsible for annual budgets at either a regional or global level.
  • Published thought leader content or national speaking engagements.
  • Must be able to translate healthcare industry standards and trends to actionable growth plans.
  • Must have strong project management and business development skills.

The potential pay range for this role is $225,000-$275,000.
