DLR Group's Design team has an opening for an intermediate-level Interior Designer. This role could be located in either our Chicago or Minneapolis offices. We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.
Position Summary
As intermediate-level Intermediate Interior Designer at DLR Group you will be responsible for collaborating on the design of complex projects ranging in scale from schematic design through construction administration. As a part of the integrated design team, you will work in concert with the architectural design leader to develop comprehensive design solutions. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with clients, contractors, vendors, and other DLR Group team members to listen, design, and deliver the desired design outcomes. You will manage the daily design and technical development by coordinating interior aspects of the project document by collaborating with the integrated design team to produce quality work products, while adhering to project scope, schedule, fee, and budget.

The successful candidate will:

Demonstrate a strong ability in conceptual design, program development, and space planning expertise.

Possess a holistic design acumen that addresses the 3D space- from functionality, alignment with programmatic needs, and how materials, volumes, and the performance of the space come together.

Mentor and teach junior design staff how to design and document constructible details.

Select products, materials, and FF&E that align with our sustainable commitments to the built environment.

Attend site walks and construction administration meetings to articulate the value and critical aspects of coordination within our integrated practice.

Demonstrate a strong willingness to continue to grow, learn and mentor, while proactively contributing to the success of project results in a meaningful way.

Apply DLR Group practice standards to project deliverables across the project team.

Translate design intent and thought leadership concepts into documentation.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or equivalent

4-8 years of experience designing commercial interior projects

Advanced proficiency with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office suite

Ability to travel occasionally to support project tasks

Proficiency with 3D visualization software such as Enscape, SketchUp, and Lumion

Ability to work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices

Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:

NCIDQ certification

Hospitality project experience
