Overview
Developmental Disabilities Institute, DDI, is one of the largest providers of care to children and adults with Autism, developmental disabilities and other special needs. DDI has been a part of Long Island for over 50 years serving over 1,500 children and adults with Autism, other developmental disabilities and special needs. DDI provides innovative and expansive services to our population through various residential services, day habilitation programs and vocational services.
Responsibilities
- Participate in IDT conferences as required.
- Serve as medical liaison for IDT team, ensuring proper medical follow up.
- Develop written plan for each person, and modify as necessary.
- Maintain medical records for each individual.
- Participate as appropriate in planning and implementation of training of DDI personnel.
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments as assigned.
- Ensure all medications are administered and stored as necessary.
- Attend monthly nursing meetings, as required.
- Complete appropriate incident reporting paperwork, as required.
- Ensure individuals receive proper medical care.
- Ensure compliance with OMRDD standards.
- Act as liaison with family members regarding medical issues.
- Prepare monthly Medication Administration Records.
- 24-hour on call as necessary. (Residential only)
Qualifications
- N.Y. State Registered Nurse License required
- N.Y. State Driver’s License preferred
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations preferred
- Experience with MR/DD population preferred
