Delta Apparel, Inc., along with its operating subsidiaries, DTG2Go, LLC, Salt Life, LLC, and M.J. Soffe, LLC, is a vertically-integrated, international apparel company that designs, manufactures, sources, and markets a diverse portfolio of core activewear and lifestyle apparel products under the primary brands of Salt Life®, COAST®, Soffe®, and Delta. 

Based in the Duluth HQ, the Senior Buyer will play a lead role in procuring materials and services, handling contract negotiations, establishing pricing agreements and resolving day to day supplier and delivery issues across company’s manufacturing and distribution locations. This strong collaborator will work closely with the stakeholders and purchasing teams on fulfilling procurement needs and identify cost savings synergy across all locations. He or she will also assist in other projects assigned

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, negotiate, manage and administer contracts and agreements for materials, equipment (CAPEX), supplies and services.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to make sure purchases meet the business needs and requirements;
  • Support location’s purchasing team in resolving supplier performance and supply chain issues.
  • Assess the current supply base to seek purchase and supplier consolidation across the company in order to obtain materials and services at the lowest cost with considerations of safety, quality, and sustainability, reliability of source and urgency of need
  • Ensure vendor set up, requisitions, POs are vetted and executed according to purchasing policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of market conditions, anticipate market changes and recommend appropriate actions

Qualifications and Requirements:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with a Business degree
  • 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably at manufacturing companies
  • Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing. 
  • Self-motivation and personal initiative (does not require taking direction from someone else).
  • Effective written and communication skills
  • Available to travel, domestic or internationally
  • Bilingual in Spanishpreferred
