The DaVita Village is a Fortune-200 healthcare organization that gives life to hundreds of thousands of kidney patients each day.
The Vice President – Operations Design is leader to a team accountable for strategic and operational, high impact, innovative projects in support of DaVita’s dialysis clinics and vulnerable kidney patients. The agile Operations Design team is tasked with generating capacity for DaVita’s frontline healthcare workers, which will be reallocated to activities such as integrated care for patients, teammate development, patient engagement, or other strategic efforts. This could include initiatives such as:
- Generation of new ideas, ranging from role redesign to operational routines and technology enablers, that result in capacity for our frontline.
- Applying design thinking principles in translating initiatives from idea to proof of concepts and scaled solution.
- Enhancing user experience of products that deliver capacity to our frontline.
- Partnering with cross-functional DaVita teams and external vendors to create scalable products.
- Building business cases for projects, including market research and financial analysis.
- Consulting with other DaVita teams on projects that impact our clinics, with the intent to reduce the impact on frontline healthcare workers.
This role provides excellent exposure to the DaVita executive level team, as this department is a board-level organizational objective.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead a team accountable for a portfolio of projects, from idea conception to delivery using design thinking principles and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Clinical, Operations, People Services, Learning & Development, IT, and Legal.
- Deliver against multi-year, high-level objectives/imperatives at scale across an enterprise, in line with overall company strategy and in-year goals associated with creating capacity for key frontline roles.
- Provide strategic direction and act as the thought leader across DaVita, mobilizing resources across the enterprise to support capacity creation and prioritization within core kidney care, integrated kidney care, and new lines of business.
- Develop and inspire a vision that others will rally behind and constantly is considering new and innovative ways of serving patient and teammate needs.
- Attract, engage, and retain talent by providing strong leadership.
- Organize and facilitate a management process and tools that drive execution of key goals and imperatives.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations with leadership including CEO, COO, CDO, CFO, and SVPs.

- Travel: 20-50%, depending on phase of project work.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Position has full supervisory responsibility for recruitment, retention, hiring, professional development, performance review, succession planning, and termination for all direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years professional experience; 10 or more years of people management.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide projects and initiatives with large, multi-site company.
- Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile principles required.
- Ability to think strategically, and solve ambiguous problems, yet maintain a hands-on role.
- Experience with human-centered, operational, & product design, and applying design thinking principles preferred.
- Master’s degree, advanced degree strongly preferred
- Track record of progressive management growth and role expansion
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
Location: Denver strongly preferred, if not in Denver then willingness to travel 50%+ is required
