TransCare, a division of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, is partnering with Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) to provide an EMT Apprenticeship Program! The next cohort starts in February 2024 with employment starting by December 11, 2023. Reserve your spot today!
- 16 week EMT program
- Grant funding provides full coverage of tuition expense - no cost to the student!
- EMT program prepares you to meet eligibility requirements and pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam and obtain Florida EMT certification
- Work full-time or part-time in a flexible schedule as a Behavioral Health Attendant and/or Driver that accommodates the demands of the EMT program; starting rate is $12.75/hour
- Upon receiving EMT certification, promote to EMT with TransCare; starting rate $15.00, with incremental increases over 12 months
- Receive mentorship and on-the-job training by experienced EMTs and Field Training Officer's to prepare you for a career in healthcare and EMS
- Education Assistance is available for continued education (paramedic, fire, undergraduate, etc.) after completing one year of service and maintaining full-time employment
- A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off, and 401(k) are available to eligible employees
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a criminal background search
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment physical, including 125lb lift test
- To work in partnering hospitals must be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 and complete required EMT program vaccinations
- To complete the apprenticeship, individuals must remain employed for 12 months upon completion of the UMA EMT program
