Covia is looking for a dynamic Electrician who will have a positive impact on our team at our Best Sand plant, OH location.  The Electrician is accountable to perform a variety of duties pertaining to the planning installation and maintenance of all electrical systems in all machinery, equipment, building, and processes in a safe manner.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure safe work operations and enforce safety and health rules. Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Identify, quantify, and eliminate process problems and waste through the use of Continuous Improvement Process using Problem Solving Techniques.
  • Investigate, plan, and requisition the necessary electrical equipment, starters, connectors, heaters, and related parts to complete the job in question from an electrical standpoint.
  • Maintain all electrical equipment in a safe operating condition.
  • Install new electrical systems at the plant according to proper procedures, standards, codes, and practices.
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical problems throughout the plant site to ensure proper and continuous operation.
  • Perform safety inspection and ensure plant meets all MSHA electrical requirements.
  • Perform annual plant ground check and document the results.
  • Calibrate the belt scales.
  • Responsible for learning and performing all mechanical duties in the plant and acts as a mechanic when necessary.
  • Maintain and learn when necessary changes in electrical codes, standards, and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Literacy in English, both verbally and written.
  • Previous experience within mining operations (preferably sand) preferred.
  • Prior exposure to an understanding of operational equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate electrical equipment adequately.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver set targets.
  • Able to utilize a laptop for troubleshooting electrical circuits
  • Knowledge of PLC’s
  • Certified electrician or electrical training given preference.
