Job Summary: Cousins Properties is seeking a Corporate Paralegal to play a key role in providing operational support to the General Counsel and the full legal department, with a focus on the areas of document management and subsidiary organization. Reports to: General Counsel
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Manage subsidiary entities organization, including formation, registration and annual filings;
- Manage litigation database and any ongoing cases, including coordinating information responses;
- Review and draft simple corporate agreements, including ancillary lease documents, under the supervision of an attorney;
- Analyze and summarize legal documents, under the supervision of an attorney;
- Assist with preparation of board materials and other corporate records; and
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Successful Candidate:
- Must work independently with minimal supervision;
- Must be able to take initiative, multi-task, and prioritize, with strong follow-up;
- Must be very detail- and deadline-oriented;
- Must have excellent written and spoken communication skills and be able to communicate confidently and graciously with all levels of stakeholders;
- Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Must be able to learn and apply new information relevant to the position;
- Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion, good judgment and integrity; and
- Must be willing to work in an in-office environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (minimum required):
- At least 4 years of Paralegal experience (preferred);
- At least 2 years of relevant corporate experience (law firm or corporate legal department);
- ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate (preferred); Bachelor’s Degree (strongly preferred);
- Current Notary Public (may be satisfied within first 6 months);
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret legal documents;
- Advanced in Word and proficient in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel; and
- SharePoint proficiency preferred.
