Fleet Mechanic

Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Performs standard vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
Performs preventive maintenance.
Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems.
Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
Replaces defective components as instructed.
Performs facility maintenance duties.
Interacts with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Industrial maintenance background which may include hydraulics, controls, steam/boilers, welding.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely to others, both verbally and in writing and to understand and follow instructions concisely. under stressful situations.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Mechanic certification is preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Preferred to have at least three (5) years’ experience as a mechanic.
Basic Industrial Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills is preferred.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
Possess the ability to report to work on time and perform job responsibilities in a timely manner.
Possess excellent oral communication skills.
Ability to concentrate and accomplish tasks despite interruptions.
Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Ability to create and maintain accurate, timely and complete records.
