POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for documenting and implementing all outages that are required by the USG in COPT buildings/facilities.  This will require electronic documentation of the outage with a high degree of technical information.  The individual will coordinate the gathering and updating of pertinent information from COPT and the USG team members.  The Outage Coordinator will be the liaison for all questions, scheduling and support related to the outage process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Effectively communicate with all related parties involved in the outage request process to include but not limited to United States Government (USG), COPT Property Management and Operating Partners/Contractors.
  • Outage Coordinator will ensure that all the proper information is entered into the USG on-line system and update as required.
  • In certain instances, a site visit may be required to verify and validate critical systems information as it relates to the outage request.
  • Effectively communicate with numerous customers to ensure proper and applicable information is inserted into USG outage request system.
  • Updates must be given during all phases of the outage process to all parties.
  • Will be responsible for documenting the process as well as noting any abnormalities.
  • Records must be extremely organized including submission and maintenance of detailed records/documentation.
  • Will provide technical assistance and guidance on affected building systems as a result of the required outage request.
  • The analysis is extremely detailed and accurate as the requests affect secure mission critical areas and systems.
  • Build and maintain a database of recurring outages for on-going use and reference.
  • Required to meet and/or communicate on a regular basis with the USG to provide an effective program that meets the customer’s needs and expectations.
  • This position will require a flexible work schedule as some outages may occur off hours and weekends.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stay current in industry best practices for data center and other related facilities maintenance and operations, building equipment and systems. On-going training will be required.
  • Ability to educate COPT personnel on best practices to keep personnel current on industry issues.
  • Ensure that all of COPT’s and USG’s safety rules and regulations are followed and in compliance with applicable jurisdictional rules and regulations, i.e. OHSA and MOSHA.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and be on-call 24/7.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - High school diploma or equivalent with extensive knowledge in the HVAC and electrical disciplines required.

Further Training - Knowledge of government reporting and process. 

Professional Experience - State Journeyman or Master license in mechanical or electrical or equivalent experience.

Computer Skills - Skills required in Microsoft Office and ability to learn and be proficient with the USG on-line outage system. 

Mobility - Ability to walk on buildings including rooftops via ladder and necessary walkways as required. 

Other Requirements - 

  • Possess strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints and on-line drawings.
  • Ability to work and coordinate with various user groups.
  • Required to carry and maintain appropriate government credentials.
