Anne Arundel Gastroenterology Associates (AAGA), a Covenant Physician Partner, located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland, is looking for a Fulltime Medical Assistantto join our talented and growing team.
Please note the pay range for this position is $18-$23hr.
About the Opportunity
Working Monday through Friday and potentially commuting to other AAGA sites throughout the metropolitan area, theMedical Assistantprovides direct support to providers and patients by coordinating and engaging in quality patient care.
In coordination with other office staff, the Medical Assistant rooms patients, takes vitals, answers phone calls, documents in patient charts, and provides other common medical office support.
Essential Duties
- Prepare patients for examination; take blood pressure, weight, and temperature; report patient history summary; enter medications.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient; record medical history; confirm purpose of visit.
- Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.
- Obtain laboratory, radiologic data, and any other necessary records.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; place orders for medical supplies and materials; verify delivery.
- Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventive maintenance; call for repairs.
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies according to the instructions of the ordering physician or nurse practitioner.
- Perform follow-up duties ordered by the physician such as posting recalls, scanning, indexing, scheduling procedures or tests and provide necessary instructional materials to patients.
About the Candidate
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Competent in the use of basic office equipment
- Proficient typing and general computer skills
- Current BLS certification or the ability to obtain prior to start
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Bilingual (Spanish) skills
