We are hiring a Director of Sales at the Downright Austin, a Renaissance Hotel - Austin, TX
We are seeking a dynamic and experience Director Sales to lead the sales strategy of our upscale, recently renovated hotel - Downright Austin, a Renaissance Hotel. Located near the University of Texas at Austin and the Texas State Capital, this 367-room property features over 40,000 square feet of versatile event space, offering an ideal setting for meetings, conferences and social gatherings.
As the DOS, you will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by leading a high-performing sales team, cultivating strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, and executing strategic sales and marketing plans. We are looking for a sales leader with full-services hotel background, a passion for coaching and mentoring teams, and a keen ability to identify and secure new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate and develop the sales team to exceed revenue targets.
 - Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, local businesses, university contracts and hotel ownership.
 - Develop and implement innovative strategies to attract group, corporate, leisure, and catering business.
 - Cultivating Business travel relationships.
 - Analyze market trends, performance data, and competitor insights to identify opportunities for growth.
 - Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows and networking functions to increase brand awareness.
 - Responsible for ensuring achievement of Sales Department goals and KPI's.
 
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven track record and mentoring sales teams in full-service hotels.
 - Prior Marriott sales management experience.
 - Strong business development skills with the ability to close deals and drive performance.
 - Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
 
The ideal candidate is a service-oriented, motivated, passionate, and collaborative individual who has a deep understanding of how to continue to develop strong relationships with customers, how to effectively prospect, and how to positively and creatively lead teams. The DOS will provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer in order to boost top-line revenue growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide the highest quality of service to our customers at all times.
 - Develop and execute strategies to drive business in new and existing markets.
 - Establish and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
 - Understand and keep up to date with industry and competitive landscape knowledge.
 - Guide sales and marketing efforts as well as advertising tasks, public relations and administrative reporting.
 - Define and implement sales and marketing activities according to the Marketing Plan.
 - Prioritize, document, and organize work to meet deadlines .
 
Qualifications:
- Prior Director of Sales Experience (3+ years).
 - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 - Strong organizational skills.
 - Ability to analize financial and competitive data to make informed decisions.
 - Prior experience leading, motivating and managing successful sales teams.
 - Prior Marriott experience and market knowledge desirable.
