What You’ll do

CompuNet, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Room Experience team in Portland, OR. The Room Experience team is committed to helping our customers create new and more productive ways to work, creating a collaborative workplace using the latest trends in Audio Visual technologies. We partner with industry leading solution providers such as Cisco, Crestron, Genetec, Axis, Poly, VMware, Palo Alto, Microsoft, and many more top technology manufacturers to develop and deliver integrated solutions that provide maximum reliability, security, performance, and scale. The Systems Engineer provides a key role in the design, installation, management and commissioning of integrated media solutions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, designing, and implementing Multimedia Audio Video (AV), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Audio conferencing and Video Display Systems (VDS), ranging from simple (Desktop) to complex (Video Walls, Network Operation Centers) solutions.
  • Working directly with clients, architects and consultants throughout the design development and delivery process.
  • Defining System Requirements (Needs analysis), creating the Bill of Materials, designing conceptual drawings and labor estimates for multiple customer projects.
  • Developing (simple to complex) system design drawings including, but not limited to:
    • audiovisual system diagrams and schematic drawings
    • architectural diagrams, rack layouts, drawings and sketches
    • Design/Build and Bid/Build specifications
    • operational capabilities narratives, etc.
  • Developing a cables and connectors bill of materials once the project has been awarded. Determining cable pulls, cable lengths, quantities of connectors and miscellaneous pieces. The list will be used by the Project Engineer for completing the project.
  • Troubleshooting commercial system programming.
  • Providing onsite startup and debugging.
  • Providing telephone support.

Who you are

You’re a strong team player that is highly invested in helping your customers succeed.  You take pride in doing a good job.  You have the following knowledge, skills, abilities and/or education:

  • 2 years’ experience in commercial AV design and large-scale AV implementation. 
  • Working knowledge of low voltage communications systems in the fields of Analog and Digital Audio processing and standard and hi-definition video.
  • Experience with reviewing bid documents for purposes of evaluating and preparing equipment take offs, review design integrity/discrepancies, wire take offs, scope of work descriptions, etc.
  • Highly technical, with the ability to evaluate situations, utilizing logical and decisive reasoning.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of system design software such as D-Tools, Visio or other similar software.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.

Our ideal candidate would have the following preferred requirements:

  • CTS, CTS-I and CTS-D and manufacturers certifications (Crestron DMC-E or DMC-D) are highly desirable.
  • Unified communications video system experience.
  • Cisco CUCM experience.
  • Networking/Firewall experience.
  • Extensive knowledge with demonstrated experience engineering conference rooms, Webcasting, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and Streaming Video systems.
  • Experience with Crestron Core3UI/Smart Graphics.
  • Understanding of SIMPL+ and other procedural languages.
  • Strong understanding of: Audio conferencing, Video Conferencing, Audio DSP’s (Biamp, QSC, BSS and others), Room Combination Logic, Networking concept.
  • Demonstrated understanding of: Interpretation of Audio, Video, and Control drawings, Graphic Design principles.
  • HTML5, C# experience
