Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are now hiring a Community Liaison Specialist (CLS). The Community Liaison Specialist facilitates greater community inclusion for people with disabilities by supporting their integration in the community. This person will work with individuals to build a natural support network, cultivate meaningful relationships, and help them achieve their goals.
Starting pay rate is: $16.70 an hour
Available Shifts:
Morning, Evening and Weekend all shifts (30-35 hrs.)
Work location: Homes located in Montgomery County
Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the interests, goals, needs, and capacities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Evaluate their employment potential and provide support with goal achievement
- Encourage their development through the exploration of interests and goals
- Support individuals with developing meaningful relationships in the community
- Help individuals work through issues and daily challenges
- Advise individuals on the appropriate behavior within different settings and circumstances
- Facilitate the Circles of Support by bringing friends, family, and staff together on a regular basis to help an individual realize their dreams and goals
- Increase the awareness of community inclusion within the organization and the community
- Recruit and train interns and volunteers doing community inclusion work
- Raise awareness with staff and community members on the rights of people with disabilities, discrimination, and the benefits of greater inclusion while helping to dispel ignorance and fear
- Must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with one year of experience in social services
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
- Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
- Confident with public speaking at meeting, conferences, and through social media platforms
- Experience facilitating groups and supporting others in a supervisory capacity
- Ability to bring people together in positive ways
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports

Working Conditions:
- May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff
