Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states. 

We are in search of a Senior Staff Accountant to assist with all general ledger functions and contract compliance for the organization. The Staff Accountant will work out of the National Headquarters in Princeton, NJ. 

Responsibilities:

  • Approve Accounts Payable invoices for assigned regions.
  • Process and uploads of monthly purchase journals.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliation as assigned
  • Prepares and enter general journal entries monthly/quarterly (as necessary).
  • Analyze and monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Reviews semi-monthly payroll for validation of allocations and budget
  • Prepare billing and assist with billing inquiries
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports for internal management reporting 
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual cost reports as required by funding sources
  • Prepare, enter and maintains budgets in accounting software.
  • Prepare documentation and payment vouchers for various monthly expenses.
  • Prepares monthly expense allocations and enter in general ledger.
  • Order, monitor and replenish PEX cards (RCC and grocery) for assigned regions
  • Order and monitor Divvy card transaction activity for assigned regions
  • Prepare, submit, and pay sales taxes.
  • Prepare and provide account reconciliations for compliance and annual audits
  • Prepare FTE reports for each payroll cycle
  • Monitor and prepare monthly vacancy reports for states
  • Review and approve T & E reports via Web expenses web browser software
  • Maintain contractual and general ledger files in an organized fashion
  • Prepare required documents for local, state, and federal government agencies
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Prepare applications for tax exemption status as needed
  • Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation
  • Additional tasks ad responsibilities may be assigned

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Accounting or related field
  • AAS in accounting and two to three years related experience
  • Two to five years of related general accounting experience
  • State trainings as required
  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
  • Community Options Inc orientation
  • Commitment to and knowledge of community-based support for persons with disabilities
  • Knowledge of general accounting through general ledger
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work with individuals from all levels of the organization
  • Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize, and organized diversified workload
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional overtime required
  • Work a flexible schedule as determined by supervisor
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
