COLSA Corporation is seeking a Materials Engineer to support NASA’s Stennis Space Center under a contract focused on test operations, welding/fabrication, and technical systems maintenance. This role will directly support the NASA Stennis test complex, including work on high-pressure industrial systems and cryogenic propellant infrastructure. The selected engineer will evaluate materials and develop processes that meet the rigorous demands of aerospace testing and component performance.
- Evaluate materials and develop machinery or processes to meet specialized design and performance specifications for NASA test operations.
- Develop new applications for known materials; specialize in one or more material types (e.g., metals, composites, ceramics, glass, polymers).
- Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine root causes and recommend solutions.
- Design and direct testing procedures for raw materials and finished components; monitor performance and degradation over time.
- Supervise or conduct tests to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors related to material selection, processing methods, and design objectives.
- Collaborate with welding, fabrication, machining, and component processing teams to ensure material compatibility and performance.
This position may involve physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, bending, climbing, or working in varied environmental conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, and the role could include exposure to industrial or outdoor settings.

Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
- Experience working with high-pressure and cryogenic systems, preferably in aerospace or government test environments.
- Knowledge of welding, machining, and fabrication processes.
- U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to undergo a background investigation for position of NASA Public Trust, test complex and facility access, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience providing engineering support to the NASA Stennis Space Center (SSC) Test Complex.
