 COLSA is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented SQL Database Developer/ Administrator to join our team supporting the US Army, on Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, AL. This position is onsite. Responsible for the stability, security, monitoring, and performance of the database platform. End-to-end systems management and technology governance of this platform including administration, security, and audit.

Candidate will have a good understanding of relational database management system and architecture design. Will be able to create complex functions, stored procedures, and complex queries for applications and business intelligence reporting. Capable of optimizing database performance. Will have a good understanding of indexing, querying, and normalization. Experienced in analyzing queries, developing security protocols, and resolving problems. Should possess strong data management skills, with a good understanding of database integrity and security.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential functions)

•         Provide advanced technical and functional support to US ARMY-wide virtual and hardware SQL databases.

•         Installs and maintains Database Management software for servers and workstations.

•         Creates necessary database System Interface Diagrams (SIDs) and ensures all database and system programs operate smoothly and efficiently.

•         Designs, develops, and implements backup systems and ensures all database information is backed up and secured.

•         Designs, develops, and maintains user accounts, permissions, database tables, database elements, database programs, and database queries.

•         Designs, develops, and maintains database programs and queries for project managers, upper management, and Document Integrators to manage their force management data.

•         Documents and prepares Change Management packages and submits through the CMB to install, upgrade, and implement new releases of programs and database structures in the Force Management System.

•         Provides direct support to operations, including database technical support, database functional support, and general computer technical support.

•         Oversee architecture of the enterprise GIT system

•         Help to educate engineering community on appropriate and efficient use of Git.

•         Set development guidelines and best practices for the system. Work with development teams to adhere to the guidelines.

•         Provide first level support of any issues encountered on the system.

•         Define and maintain SLAs and processes for the system including server uptime and consistency.

•         Administer the system including but not limited to setting up new users, groups, projects, and configurations.

•         Install and configure server software, as well as necessary proxies, mirrors, and other peripheral software.

•         Develop server-side scripts as well as other glue software to customize Git and tie in with other tools such as Rational Team Concert, code review tools, build management, etc.

•         Duties will not be limited to computer-automated functions.

•         Employee provides management support and sound advice in up-to-date technology and implementation strategy to supervisor and upper management.

•         Performs system analyses in existing workloads, databases, operational functions, and automation; designs and develops automated functions and eliminates duplication of work.

•         Performs system design and development of a database(s) using both automated and manual techniques; writes and maintains programs for enhancements to the database management systems.

Required Experience

Required Qualifications

·       One of the following combinations of education & experience: 

      • Bachelors degree (or higher) in computer science or related field and 8 years of related experience 
      • Associates degree in related field and 12 years related experience 
      • High school Diploma and 16 years related experience  
  • Active Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required 
  • Current CompTIA Security+ CE or CISSP Certification (or other DoD 8570 IAT II certification)
  • SQL Server certification or certificate of completion
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft Systems Configuration Management (SCCM) experience
  •  Expertise in batch files, scripts and PowerShell
  • Experience with VMware Vsphere, EXSI and VSAN 
  • VxRail experience
