Job Description-
To provide technical support for application stability, improvements, requests, problems for users, customers and vendors. To provide assistance, advice, problem solving, and technical information to users regarding the use of software applications, to act as liaison with users regarding the status of their issues and requests. This position exercises responsibility for the coordination, application and execution of established procedures related to information systems operations and for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of system output, assuring that such output meets user needs. Builds, tests, and debugs code, interfaces, and configures software packages. This person will be responsible for applying technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to solve problems relating to financial systems and subsystems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide level 2 support for the IBM-GIS and other US Foods applications.
- Provide exceptional, timely technical support and expertise for general troubleshooting and support of various systems workflow processing, data handling, storage and notifications of process failures.
- Support business and application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Create, modify and update maps in IBM-GIS System.
- Track, monitor and report progress of assignments; update HPSM activity logs in a timely manner; document and track case histories, issues, and action steps taken; timely follow-up on open issues, communicating status and setting resolution expectations with users and management.
- Review and approve turnover documentation; create, execute and document the tests necessary to ensure that an application or technical environment meets functional specifications and performance requirements.
- Diagnose, resolve, and document application and system issues. Research questions with respect to both maintenance and development activities. Interact with database administrators, server teams, security analysts and business system users in this effort.
- Perform post-installation system review and ongoing support.
- Escalate issues according to established communications guidelines and checklists.
- Improve support policies and procedures documentation; create/update system and application documentation as required.
- Ensure standards are met; applying USF best practices.
- Should be part of on-call rotation and willing to carry a pager.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
RELATIONSHIPS
- IT - Works with regularly up to the VP level. Problem solves up to the Director level across IT organizations. Works extensively with Solution and Technical Architects.
- Business - Works with regularly up to the VP level. Problem solves across Business organizations interacting with subject matter experts as needed.
- External – Works regularly with IT Vendors / Consultants and 3rd party technical staff as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years IT experience.
- Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of database concepts or database administration.
- Knowledge of FTP, HTTP and TCP/IP protocols.
- 3-5 years experience with EDI, E-Commerce and B2B solutions including IBM-GIS\Sterling Integrator up to version 5.2.
- 3-5 years experience with creating, updating and debugging Sterling Integrator maps and business processes.
- Experience writing sql scripts on Sql Server or Oracle Databases.
- Experience with Unix scripting.
- Ability to quickly learn new processes, absorb and retain information.
- Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively.
- Ability to work well with many different disciplines and cross functional teams.
- Ability to participate in system implementations, upgrades and/or migration efforts.
- Good interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience as an IBM-GIS Workflow developer.
- Experience with UNIX Commands, UltraEdit, IPSwitch WS-FTP Pro, CONTORL-M, FTP Communication Protocol, ANSI X12 EDI Standards, EDI Value Added Networks, PGP Software, Business Process Modeler – BPML, XML, Database Tools – SQL Plus or TOAD, Sterling Integrator Mapper and MS Office Suite.
- Experience working in medium to large scale IBM-GIS data center environment
