POSITION OVERVIEW:

Designs, develops, modifies, and implements software systems designed to support new or existing business initiatives. Projects are usually of considerable complexity and require a mastery of development tools. Works in most phases of a project and reviews work of less experienced staff members. Performs maintenance on existing software products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Codes and performs unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements

Codes, tests, and debugs new software or makes enhancements to existing software

Designs and writes programs according to functional and non-functional requirements

Develops technical documentation

Resolves in a timely manner problems that arise with existing production applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application components

Collaborates with technical staff to learn and understand software problems

Provides general system users and management with system analysis and feedback

Influences system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements

Mentors and coaches less experienced staff

Maximizes the efficiency of the various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing and auditing new software programs

Analyzes and resolves computer related problems by coordinating with in-house personnel to diagnose and fix operational issue, as well as consulting, advising and training on specialized features and functions

Follows established configuration/change control processes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5 plus years experience with major DBMS

5 plus years experience with coding, testing and design

5 plus years experience with software development methodologies

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION LICENSES:

BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience

Additional Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience with designing, coding, and debugging applications using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005/2008, VB.NET, ASP.NET and .NET Framework 2.0 or higher.

• 5+ years experience with full lifecycle application development using standard SDLC processes.

• 5+ years experience with object-oriented design, analysis, application development principles, theories and concepts.

• 3 to 5 years experience with SQL; ability to write complex queries and create tables, stored procedures and views.

• 1 to 3 years experience with SOAP, XML, and design/code/test of web services.

• 3 to 5 years experience with SQL Server 2005/2008.

• Experience with web design concepts such as CSS, HTML, and usability.

• Experience with integrating new software with existing legacy systems.

• Experience with developing and supporting high-availability, load-balanced software systems.

• Ability to provide on-call after-hours system support, as required.
