Job Title: Production DBA
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Contract to Hire

Reports To: Sr. Director Operations

Summary:
This position is a Operational Database Administrator that will be responsible for design, implementation and operational support of the database systems, Replication Server and SSRS. The MS SQL DBA will track and resolve database related incidents and requests, making request database changes and responding to related alerts and escalations as needed. This position will be supporting out Development, Test, QA and Production environments in Azure.

The incumbent should be a well-organized and self-managed individual with outstanding communication skills. They should have a high propensity for learning new technology and be very accountable in the duties that they perform on a daily basis. This person should work proactively to identify issues and consult with team members to establish resolution. They should work well within a high-paced environment and function well in a diverse and dynamic team environment. The incumbent will also have strong leadership, influential, and direction skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Database Administration for MSSQL Server, Replication Server and SSRS
• Troubleshooting and resolving database problems
• Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Backups, restores and recovery models
• Adheres to company security policies and effectively controls access to data.
• Implementing operations automation using scripts
• Indexes, index management and statistics
• Ability to identify capacity and performance needs for database server infrastructure (compute, memory, disk and network).
• Ability to manage IT related initiatives including long-duration projects across multiple groups.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple related projects, including troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance of the enterprise in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, trouble tickets, network configurations, hardware/software inventory, and audit requests.
• Create and maintain technical and procedural standards documentation.
• Follow formal change control process when necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• A minimum of 5 years of DBA experience with MS SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Always On Availability, and SQL Server Transaction Replication. 
• Must possess the ability to perform work in a “Dev/Ops” environment, direct and act as a resource for less experienced analysts and relay necessary information as appropriate. 
• Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Evaluates current database environments, conducts research, recommends and implements innovate systems technology that can enhance the reliability, security, productivity and efficiency of the database infrastructure. 
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication , connectivity, security issues, etc.
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Read and understand company policies and procedures and other literature and documents applicable to assigned tasks.
• Work off-hours when required.
• Produce quality work, meeting requirements of company policies, procedures and industry standards.
• Be motivated and work productively.
• Set exemplary standards of ethics and stewardship of corporate resources.
• Support company philosophies, policies, practices and procedures.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
