Job Description-
Role: Database Administrator III
Location: Philadelphia, PA
SUMMARY
Manages and maintains all production and non-production databases. Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field or equivalent work experience. Typically has at least six years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
The ideal candidate will have worked with Couchbase platform in the past. The successful candidate will be working directly with project teams to maintain, support and continuously improve our databases.
Responsibilities:
- Overall Couchbase administration
- Manage the full operational lifecycle of Couchbase including sizing, deployment, monitoring ongoing tuning and maintaining (adding and replacing nodes, rebalancing, upgrading to newer version, etc.)
- Work closely with developers and vendors to provide help and recommend on Couchbase configuration, design documents and views.
- 5 years database administration experience
- 3 years Couchbase administration experience
- Expertise in Couchbase installation, setup, tuning, monitoring and administration
- Understanding of JSON
- Document modeling
- Experience in Shell scripting
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment
- Experience and comfortable working in a 24x7 uptime environment
- Additional pluses: experience deploying and managing Couchbase in the cloud; experience in Disaster Recovery setup for Couchbase; script development experience; MemSQL experience.
