SAS programming software (including data steps, procedures, SAS/MACRO, SAS/SQL and SAS/STAT), the construction of analytic files from large claims databases and merging of databases from multiple sources, and knowledge in a healthcare research setting using economic and clinical information systems.
This position will develop complex programming algorithms to support studies using and merging large administrative datasets that support outcomes research. Duties will include:
1) Analyze needs of faculty for outcomes research data retrieval and develop retrieval mechanisms and outcomes research subsets to be used by faculty, staff and students. Develop and maintain standard SAS routines for the analysis of these outcomes research data sets. Provide information and reports on outcomes research data structure, quality, and accrual.
2) Design and develop a system of databases for researching healthcare outcomes research data in a format suitable for analysis. Database construction will involve extensive use of SAS programming to manipulate and merge files from multiple sources, the production of random samples of claims, and the construction of cost and payment variables from claims detail files.
3) Manage and monitor outcomes research data acquisition and conversion, work independently to implement a quality control system, and conduct outcomes research data quality control checks as needed.
4) Design, develop, code, and document programs for integrating healthcare outcomes research data.
5) Supervise outcomes research use by faculty, staff and students to maintain compliance with security and human subjects protocols.
6) Interface with IT support staff on networking, hardware and software issues, as needed. Participate in regular meetings of management, staff and researchers, as needed.
