Job Description :

Senior Cognos Admin  

Major-Cognos Administrator with a solid background in Cognos 8/10 BI Platform Design and Administration on Windows Server OS and Linux on System Z. 5+ years of Enterprise Environment experience.
Minor-Administrator with a solid background in QV/Tableau Platform Design and Administration on Windows Server OS. 3-5+ years of Enterprise Environment experience preffered.
Operational responsibilities:
Must be able to design, implement, and upgrade the appropriate infrastructure to support the enterprise used platform.
Configures and supports the Cognos, QV/Tableau Web & Application server environments for non-prod through to Production via SLDC.
Experience in Service provisioning and implementing the Cognos authentication/authorization model for Users, Groups, Roles, and Capabilities.
Experience in Service provisioning and implementing the SSO authentication/authorization model for Users, Groups, Roles, and Capabilities.
This position includes performing the product upgrades and patching as well as the deployment of application code and the required security within the 3 platforms features and functions.
Configuring Windows IIS and IBM HTTP web services.
Experience implementing security in the Cognos Connection Portal for Public folders,
Configuration, Security, Status, etc.
Hands on experience creating objects throughout the full spectrum of the Cognos
Connection Portal.
Knowledge of the Cognos 8-10 cube building processes and its deployment features.
Experience working with product vendors to provide application support and resolving
multiple PMR tickets simultaneously.
Working knowledge of the various monitoring features and metrics incorporated in the Cognos Connection Portal
Experienced with Change Control procedures and software version control.
Basic knowledge of LDAP design and experience with LDAP administration.
Ability to work on simultaneous projects and capable of rapidly responding to production related issues, daily tasks and responsibilities.
Available for routine production support duties during off-hours and weekends.
Working knowledge of how to perform the integration of the software components into a working environment being considerate of the desktop/server components as well as surrounding systems that utilize Cognos.
The individual should be capable to work alone as well as with others to perform performance analysis, environment diagnostics and product / code diagnostics.
Experienced with Cognos tools and diagnostics to assist the application teams as needed.
Experienced with performing these functions on both a windows and UNIX platform.
Interfaces with both the application teams and vendor to gather and present the required details pertaining to requirements, problems and diagnostics for root cause analysis to peers, partners, coworkers, vendors, and management.
Identify pros and cons to solutions.
Identify risk impact and provide proactive plans to ensure platform and host performance.
The person must have excellent technical skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Some project management skills are required to help outline tasks and timelines.
The person must be process oriented, organized and capable of proper time management within a team of on and offshore resources to support 24x7 platforms.
Perform maintenance and support of the availability and functionality of these systems. Maintenance (includes OS Patching and platform upgrades), implementation rollouts of new systems, application deployments, L1,2&3 break fix and troubleshooting skills. Demonstrates specific technological expertise in highly utilized application packages including but not limited to (Cognos, Qlikview and Tableau)

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field and 6+ years of relevant enterprise network work experience. Must be capable of working and trroubleshooting with multiple application teams as well as respective datacenter and infrastructure team members. Candidates will be team leads to sustain a 24x7 support model, so technical and human resource management skills are required. Project Management skills are a plus.
