General Summary:

The Network Engineering Lead is responsible for supporting the availability, performance, and security of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), and wireless network services (WLANs) across the organization. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links to ensure minimal network downtime. The Network Engineering Manageralso troubleshoots network performance issues in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as analyzing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions. The Network Engineering Manager also supervises a team of Network Administrators, Network Engineers, and temporary contractors.

 Responsibilities:
  • Install setup, configure, test, and documentnetworkhardware, software and cabling for both production and disaster recovery.
  • Develop managementreporting onnetworkperformance indicators, availability, and service levels.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and documentnetworkperformance issues and outages and in a timely manner, including timely resolution of assigned Help Desk tickets (LevelI and II)
  • Developprocessesand procedures for ongoing management of thenetworkand server environment.
  • Work closely with the Telecommunications team and vendors/service providers to coordinate the installation ofcircuits (T1/T3, DSL, ISDN, etc.), cabling, and other data communications services as necessary.
  • Ensure allnetworkequipment and services are configured in a secure manner to protect the company systems and data from unauthorized access.
  • Supervise, train, assign work, monitor, evaluate and make hiring andretentionrecommendations for a team of IT Network Administrators/Engineers with a focus on continuously improving their performance and capabilities.
  • Assist in the development the ITnetworking strategy for various projects and partner closely with product vendors and service providers, other IT personnel, and with business departments.
  • Manage relationships with equipment vendors and service providers.
Work Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of IT Networking experience required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of the following is required:
  • Cisco Router, Switch, VPN Administration/Configuration (CCNA or CCNP preferred)
  • Firewall Administration/Configuration
  • LAN/WAN Design & Support
  • Wireless Networking & Security
  • Microsoft Office Products including Visio
  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of the following is preferred but not required:
  • Data Cabling System Design & Implementation
  • Solarwinds Network Management Software
  • NetFlow Analysis
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Cisco Networks
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree and/ 8 years equivalent work experience.
