Job Description

We are seeking a System Administrator for a 12 month contract in Hartford, CT.   This role will work a hybrid schedule  of mostly remote, but will need to come to the office occasionally, so candidates who are within a commutable distance to Hartford are encouraged to apply.  

In this role, you will 

  • Provide server and related infrastructure support
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and operating systems
  • Administration and management of VMWare infrastructure like vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and virtual machines.
  • Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability.
  • Implementing security measures, including backups, and data protection.
  • Managing software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
  • Automating administrative tasks and creating scripts for system management.
  • Craft and implement network configurations and test plans
  • Gathering and presenting System Performance Metrics
  • Perform platform software upgrades and failover testing
  • Administration of routers, switches, and other network equipment
  • Perform audits as needed
  • Work with IT teams in preparing platform enhancements and configurations
  • Identify areas of the infrastructure for optimization
  • Develop detailed architectural diagrams and procedure documents

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience in system or network administration/engineering and support roles
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree level in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline
  • Working knowledge of network technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP
  • Working knowledge of routing and switching (Spanning Tree/OSPF/BGP /802.1q/QoS/AAA)
  • Experience with wireless networks, VPN, firewalls, load balancers
  • Preferred Knowledge of: Virtualization Support: VMware / ESXi, Linux, and Windows
  • Experience with network management tools and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge and experience with SDLC and AGILE methodologies and ITIL framework
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills are required
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a pressured environment
  • Cisco Networking certification preferred

Additional Information

This 12 month contract role is located in Hartford, CT.  This role will work a hybrid schedule of remote with some onsite/ in office work occasionally in Hartford, CT.
