Basic Function:

Prepares and maintains drawings using conventional drafting techniques, as well as a working knowledge of drafting and manufacturing systems and processes.

Essential Duties:

• Prepares and maintains detailed drawings of moderate difficulty to support senior designer/drafters and engineers.
• Prepares and maintains some layout drawings of limited difficulty to establish final details of sub-components.
• Selects appropriate templates and other equipment needed to complete assignments.
• Initiates Engineering Notices when required and generates complete Bills of Materials.
• Calculates dimensions and specifies standard allowances when not stated.
• Recognizes the need for computer design system changes and the direction of skilled drafters/assists in making custom changes. 

Internal Contacts: Occasional contact requiring the obtaining or giving of information.

External Contacts: Little or no contact except with immediate coworkers

Education Required: 2-3 year degree/certificate in Tech/Science field

Experience Required: 1 year to less than 2 years

Physical Skill and Effort:

Requires skilled, accurate, rapid, and closely coordinated manual skill. Work involves fairly light and simple types of physical exertion.

Working Conditions and Hazards:  

Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible or no exposure.
