We are currently seeking a dedicated School Occupational Therapist to join our team in supporting the diverse needs of students within Illinois school districts. As a School Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping students develop the skills necessary to participate fully in their educational environment and daily activities. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with educators, families, and other professionals to promote student success and independence.
Job Duties:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and activities of daily living.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and in collaboration with the student's educational team and family.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, including therapeutic activities, sensory integration techniques, and assistive technology training.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other related service providers to integrate therapy goals into students' educational programs and classroom activities.
- Monitor students' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, maintaining accurate documentation of therapy sessions and progress reports.
- Educate and empower students, families, and school staff regarding strategies for promoting independence, participation, and functional skills within the school setting.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and student support team meetings as needed.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Valid Illinois state license to practice Occupational Therapy.
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
