Job Summary

Responsible for the general accounting and external financial reporting for the company.  This will include, managing the Accounting and Control functions, ensuring financial reporting is accurate, timely, consistent and prepared in accordance with company policies and IFRS standards, coordinating the annual audit of the financial statements, and analyzing the financial statements to provide insight and explain key variances.

This role is based in Duluth MN at our Company Headquarters. Relocation Assistance is provided. For the right experienced candidate, our Knoxville TN location could also be considered. 

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Timely and accurate month end close
    • Revenue and Expenses are properly recorded and analyzed. Accruals and Prepaid are recorded according to IFRS
    • All Balance Sheet accounts are fully analyzed and reconciled monthly, updating, analyzing, and ranking accounts for risk on a semi-annual basis.
    • All “Opportunities and Risks” are communicated during the monthly result review process.
    • Variances to Budget and Prior Year are articulated succinctly to Senior Staff and other budgetary managers:
      • Revenue, COGS and other Income Expenses
      • Selling expenses
      • G&A
    • All monthly reporting is prepared accurately with consistency and timeliness.
  • Responsible for managing the statutory reporting to the parent company in China, as well as the consolidated financial statements for the operating and holding company
  • Prepare all external reporting, financial statements and footnotes, according to IFRS and all recent accounting pronouncements.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to improve efficiencies, resolve issues, and streamline processes (through both manual and automated means), specifically on those matters that may impact the financial statements
  • Coordinate annual external audit and meeting all audit requirements
  • Maintain proper Warranty accrual through full understanding of warranty and service bulletin expense process, proper accounting treatments and in-depth analyses of current and historical results and experience.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Accounting system. Timely close out of capital projects and properly record and project depreciation expense.  Prepare capital project spending report including appropriation, actual spending and commitments, and variances.
  • Manage and optimize all accounting activities related to both the aircraft and non-aircraft portions of the business
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to all company areas; including but not limited to documenting accounting positions in whitepapers, keeping policies aligned with accounting pronouncements, and keeping abreast of accounting standards as required, developing plans to implement upcoming changes
  • Provide support to treasury management, internal controls, and system implementations/changes
  • Implement and maintain compliance of effective internal controls over Financial Reporting and Accounting
  • Implementation and review of accounting policies
  • Manage the Staff & Cost Accounting team
    • Manage and develop staff through clear and concise direction and expectation, timely feedback and performance and salary management.
    • Provide leadership and support to the staff to drive process simplification and efficiency improvements
    • Responsible for the opening balance sheet and assisting with due diligence/acquisition support
    • Other Projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent. 
  • Minimum 5 years of Accounting leadership responsibility in a mid-sized or large manufacturing company and 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience in total.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products, including advanced skills in Excel
  • Experience in financial consolidation accounting

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • External reporting including SEC reporting experience required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional aptitude in Finance/Accounting and Information Technology
  • Exceptional influencing skills to recommend and implement changes
  • Adaptable to business changes and M&A activity
  • Supervisory experience in managing both exempt and non-exempt employees
  • ERP experience required
  • CPA, CMA or MBA highly desirable
