FUNCTION
Be a part of the historic 150th Anniversary of the Kentucky Derby & Kentucky Oaks by joining our team of experienced concierges in the Luxury Dining Rooms at Churchill Downs. These spaces include The Mansion, Woodford Reserve Paddock Club, Spires Terrace & Suites, and Matt Winn’s Steakhouse. Two required training dates (April 13th and April 27th, 2024) will prepare you to provide extraordinary service to our distinguished guests for both race days (May 3rd and May 4th, 2024). Staff are expected to attend both training dates and both race dates. Applicants with background in hospitality and related industries, as well as those with horseracing knowledge, are encouraged to apply. This is a seasonal position.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Greet & escort VIP guests from the gate to their dining location
  • Anticipate and efficiently handle customer service requests efficiently using the resources provided
  • Lead short tours around the property or escort guests to visit other areas, access-permitting
  • Work with your Supervisor and Concierge team to troubleshoot customer service issues & tactfully offer approved alternate solutions where possible
  • Present yourself in a polished, courteous manner
  • Abide by the uniform policy & dress code
  • Exhibit discretion when handling guests’ personal information

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional, high-level customer service skills
  • Self-motivated problem solver and leader
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding communication skills
  • Must showcase professionalism in verbal and non-verbal communication
  • Speak clearly and loud enough to be heard by a large group in noisy environments
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Preferred but not required: college coursework, retail or hospitality experience, some equine industry knowledge or experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time in order to tour guests around the property
  • Speak clearly and loud enough to be heard by a large group in noisy environments

  • 4/27/2024 – Training #2
  • 5/3/2024 – Kentucky Oaks
  • 5/4/2024 – Kentucky Derby
