FUNCTION
The Locksmith installs and maintains locks, keys, and security systems, utilizing typical maintenance skills. Responsibilities include key duplication, lock replacement and re-keying, and ensuring the functionality of all security devices. Just as valuable, the locksmith seamlessly contributes as a key member of our maintenance team, ensuring comprehensive care for Frontside Facilities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key Management: Oversee the comprehensive system for Churchill Downs' 1000+ doors, ensuring proper functioning in private suites, event spaces, the Sports book, steakhouse, and dining areas.
  • Installation and Maintenance: Execute regular installation and maintenance of locks, door closers, handles, push bars, and security features across the property, ensuring optimal functionality. Serves as a maintenance technician when not dealing with locks.
  • Access Control: Manage access control systems for authorized entry to specific areas like private suites, event spaces, and the Sports book, maintaining a secure environment.
  • Emergency Lockout Response: Swiftly respond to lockout situations, facilitating access to restricted areas or private suites during events with minimal disruption.
  • Security System Oversight: Supervise integrated security systems, ensuring seamless coordination between physical locks and electronic measures.
  • Maintenance Team Collaboration: Collaborate with maintenance teams to address unique security needs, coordinating efforts to maintain the integrity of locks, doors, and security features.
  • Event Support: Provide locksmith services during events, ensuring flawless operation of locks, access control, and security systems in event halls, dining areas, and private suites.
  • Horse Safety: Implement security measures considering proximity to horses, addressing challenges in the racetrack environment to safeguard both human and equine assets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of and adhere to relevant regulations, certifications, and standards in locksmithing and security for full compliance and the highest safety level.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for security improvement, recommending upgrades to enhance Churchill Downs' security infrastructure, synonymous with the prestigious Kentucky Derby.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of three years of proven locksmith experience.
  • Proficiency in relevant certifications, such as locksmithing certifications or security-related training.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of three years proven Locksmith experience.
  • Minimum of three years proven commercial facility experience.
  • Above-average computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS, and IMS programs.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter with the capacity to make informed decisions.
  • Competence in operating maintenance equipment such as forklifts, two-man lifts, and various power tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift and move a minimum of 10 pounds regularly, 25 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Stay stationary, move, ascend/descend, manipulate tools, and operate equipment.
  • Detect, determine, perceive, recognize, judge, inspect, estimate, and assess various working situations.
  • Perform tasks while working at heights of 40 feet or more, ensuring safety and precision.
