Christie Clinic Radiation Oncology is seeking a full-time registered/licensed Radiation Therapist(Sign-On Bonus Available), Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, no weekend, holidays, Inpatients or Brachytherapy patients treated. Duties include delivering therapeutic doses of radiation to cancer patients as directed by Radiation Oncologist. Candidate must be registered with the ARRT & licensed by IEMA. This department consists of 1 Radiation Oncologist, 1 nurse, 1 receptionist, 1 part-time Physicist and 3.5 RTT’s. The department is very patient focused. The clinic utilizes Varian equipment including a True Beam, Eclipse and ARIA software. Experience is preferred, new graduates considered. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping stretching and lifting patients.  Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.  Requirements may include working irregular hours. 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned course of radiation, independently.
  • Verify patient treatment prescription, diagnosis and chart information.
  • Monitor patients receiving radiation. 
  • Prepare room and equipment for patient.  Oversee equipment and accessories for proper operation.
  • Maintain patient markings.  Observe patient adverse reactions and report information and findings to Radiation Oncologist.
  • Maintain quality control procedures for equipment.  Report poor or inaccurate operation of equipment.
  • Maintain clean environment for patient.
  • Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
  • Assist in tumor localization procedures, prepare immobilization devices, perform simulations, etc.
  • Assist in dosimetry procedures.
  • Perform and document daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures
  • Perform mold room duties. 
  • Maintain record of daily treatment and other records, as required by department quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Perform patient billing, as needed.
  • Complete HealthCare Estimates (HCE’s) for insurance authorizations.  Assist in obtaining authorizations from insurance companies.  Document approval in the EMR. 
  • Perform related work as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Radiation Therapy Technologist Certificate or a degree through a Radiation Therapy Baccalaureate program
  • Maintain accreditation through ARRT
  • Maintain licensure through IEMA and Department of Nuclear Safety
