Description

Christie Clinic's department of Convenient Care is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. The location will vary between Christie Clinic locations(Champaign, Urbana, Danville) with a set schedule of 3-12 hour shifts(8am-8pm) per week including two to three 12-hour on call shifts per month. PA/NP's must provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative medicine under the supervision of the physician. Illinois State Licensure and Illinois State Controlled Substance License are required. Requirements may include working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc. as associated with working in Convenient Care. 1 year experience in Acute Care, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, or ED is highly preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds.  Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.  Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common.  Requirements include working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc. as associated with working in Convenient Care.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
  • Order, interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications. Suture wounds.  Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
  • Assist physician by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Perform related work as required.

Current Illinois state Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner/PA license Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse Controlled Substance license

Successful completion of all other requirements to practice as an NP/PA
Successful completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education program
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
